THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

"These days, 'on time', is when you arrive."

MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:

Ladies,

As you know, we have not decided on a location for the next reunion. We will be putting out a survey in September asking for your help to determine the best place that will enable maximum participation for reunion 15. Our hope is to continue the reunions with the same standard that makes it worth the travel to attend. This may mean some changes to the current procedure. A couple of options being discussed are: cutting back on the gift bags; inviting spouses to increase the number of attendees.

Currently the fee of $250 for registration is supposed to cover the meals, entertainment, audio visual equipment, tote bags and its contents. However, it also stretches to cover office supplies and the cost of the website. Therefore, your feedback from the survey (September) will help determine viable options and the best way forward.

UPDATE: The polo shirts and vests have been more popular than we anticipated. A fourth order has put in. We would like to offer any of your groups the opportunity to make an order of 12 polos and/or 12 vests. This can be directly shipped to your location. If you are interested in a polo shirt and/or vest, or a dozen, please contact us here

STAMP COLLECTING:

When you receive cards or letters from your friends and family, keep envelope with the stamp on it. When you get a chance read how to prepare the stamp below. When you have removed the corner of the envelope with the stamp attached, keep all of your stamps in a spare envelope until you have time to send them to Flo.

If you have any questions, please phone me at 403-475-6738 or e-mail flobobreid@shaw.ca

YOUR STORIES, COMMENTS, AND REQUESTS:

Bonnie writes:

On the Friday night meet & greet I omitted to transfer $$ from my larger purse to a smaller evening one & couldn’t buy a glass of wine. Someone I knew kindly gave me the money that I wish to return. Unfortunately I can’t seem to recall which one of the 2 women in line who offered (I knew both of them very well and here I thought my memory was still very much intact). If this sounds familiar, please email me @ b.haines@sympatico.ca  Thank you!.

Your stories spark memories of days gone by. We often get requests from members seeking contact with other members after stories have been published. Please, let us publish your experience. We have sought information on the history about RCAF women from 1951 to 1967.

I remember entering a washroom in the hanger for the first time. I had to step out and check the sign to make sure I hadn't entered the wrong room. There were urinals on the wall. There were no female washrooms, just men's rooms that had been designated to be women's washrooms. What do you remember about your time in?

Is there anything that you would like to see in the newsletter?
