JANUARY 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Here’s hoping 2020 really is hindsight!

MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:

Apparently, there is an ancient Chinese curse that says, "May you live in interesting times."  Well, 2020 certainly qualified!  Welcome to 2021.

It is fair to say that 2020 tested our resilience. Around the world, people had to change quickly how they lived and worked. A new normal set in. Fortunately, many of us were able to adapt with the “can-do” attitude so prominently displayed by those with military backgrounds and those who have endured previous hardships. Kudos to all of you.

Now, in 2021, with the arrival of a set of vaccines for the Corona virus, we can face the future with a renewed sense of optimism. We cannot let our guard down just yet, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Wishing you joy, peace, love, laughter and good health in the new year!

WINNIPEG REUNION:

The Reunion will take place in Winnipeg at the Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites,
May 24-26, 2022.
More details will follow in the upcoming months.

WOMEN IN THE NEWS:

Celia Brown turned 100 on December 30. Celia joined the RCAF in 1942 and spent the war years serving as a Timekeeper, maintaining charts and logbooks of those pilots learning to fly. She was stationed at No. 10 Service Flying Training School, Dauphin and later, Gimli, Manitoba. Listen to her interview from November 2019 on CFRA 580 radio here (if you have Facebook). Or you can read and listen to more about her here or here.

We are interested in your stories! If you (or any of the ladies you know) have had articles written about you, no matter how minor, please let us know. Maybe you have an experience that you believe should have been published. Reply here
