REUNION 15 VENUE:

In just over two months we will be in Winnipeg for the 15th reunion of the RCAF Airwomen. The dates are Septmeber 13, 14, and 15. The venue is at Airport Hilton Suites 1800 Wellington Avenue in Winnipeg.

There's still time to invite other airwomen you know. Share the experience with a friend. Meet up with old acquaintances, roommates, and friends you served with.

The Reunion schedule will follow this general format:

Tuesday, 13 September, 2022 – Registration will begin at 10:00am to 3:00pm with Coffee and Muffins available until noon.  Magic Mirror fun photos will begin at 3:30pm  followed by a Meet and Greet at 5:00pm and a buffet dinner at 6:00pm.

Wednesday, 14 September, 2022 – If you are going on the "Journey to Churchill"*, the bus will depart the hotel at 9:30am.  While your entrance fee will allow you to visit anywhere in the Assiniboine Park, the bus will stop at a Special Events parking lot which is right next to the underwater polar bear aquarium and the Tundra Grill which is where lunch will be. The bus will return to the hotel around 1:30 pm.  A Meet and Greet will start at 5:00pm and photos by table will start.  A four course dinner will be served at 6:00pm and the entertainers will perform during coffee and dessert.

Thursday, 15 September, 2022 – A non-denominational church service will be held at 9:00am and followed by brunch at 10:00am.

*The cost of the Journey to Churchill is $42.00 and is open to members and guests.  While the park offers a 10% CF One discount,we also qualified for a group discount which is 12% so we opted for the group discount.  Wheelchairs ($6.00) can be rented but need to be reserved. Please let us know if you need a wheelchair.

We want those of you who are coming to the reunion, and those of you still thinking about it, to know we have a great space for visiting with old and new friends. The Winnipeg committee has enjoyed planning the trip and finding interesting entertainment for your enjoyment. Link to registration form

MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:

Ladies,

Only 74 days to go! We are almost there ladies! If you have been putting it off, it's time to fill out those R15 registration forms and get them in as soon as you can. Don't forget to mention who is accompanying you.

The deadline for the full registration fee, has arrived. We are asking you to send in your full fees of $250 with your registrations. $200 portion of the fee is refundable until the 15th of July, 2022. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

You can combine your payment into one with the R15 fee owed, cost of the excursion ($42), the cost of a wheelchair during the excursion if needed ($6), and the $20 if you are bringing a guest to the Thursday morning brunch. This combined amount can be e-transferred to rcafairwomenr15@yahoo.com (when sending money, this email address is case-sensitive). Don't hesitate to contact us if you need help.

Polo shirts and vests have now been ordered. This will be the final order as stated in the June newsletter. If you have ordered an item and cannot pick it up at the reunion, please email Tracey and give her the name of the person picking up your purchase.

MEMBERS REQUESTS:

Linda Kelly writes:

I just wondered if anyone from Southern Ontario might be driving to Winnipeg.
I live 30 minutes from the TransCanada (at Espanola) and would be willing to pay for the gas from there to Winnipeg, and even share the driving.
Otherwise I will have to take the bus!
I am not requiring a ride home, since I will be flying from Winnipeg to Toronto.

Please leave a message for Linda here

OXFAM STAMP COLLECTING: BATTLING COVID 19:

Flo Reid writes:

Just a reminder to keep collecting and sending your postage stamps. I have been getting lots of stamps in the mail and have had some wonderful communications via e-mail and phone with some of our ex-airwomen from coast to coast.

I think this is a very worthwhile project due to our worldwide Pandemic and we should continue to donate our stamps to Oxfam.

Ladies, here's your chance to gather all those stamps up that you keep forgetting about. Before you take them off the envelop read the preparation below. Put the trimmed stamps in a bag in your suitcase so you don't forget to bring them to the reunion. Or if you have a list of things to bring to the reunion, put stamps on that list.

If you have any questions, please phone Flo at 403-990-1556 or e-mail flobobreid@shaw.ca

We donate these stamps to Oxfam Canada. To find out more about Oxfam click here.
