UPDATE:

POSTAGE STAMPS FOR OXFAM

I have been asked by the ex-RCAF Airwomen's Executive to inform everyone that we will no longer be collecting stamps for Oxfam for a number of reasons.

  1. We have been unable to find someone to take over the collecting of stamps;
  2. Very few postage stamps are used today  On-line communication is now the norm;
  3. Collectors are looking for much "older" stamps to add to their collection;
  4. Lots of "clipping" involved and harder on our ageing airwomen;
  5. The cost of mailing the stamps to Oxfam in Ottawa has greatly increased; and
  6. The number of attendees to our reunions has really gone down.

Since we started collecting stamps in 2002, we have donated 636,459 to Oxfam.  This is something we should all be proud of and feel good about the impact our stamps have had in helping those less fortunate.  We would like to especially thank Glenora Cole for the many years she was involved and all those who collected and donated stamps over the years.  I have enjoyed collecting stamps since 2017 and one of the reasons was touching base with quite a few numbers of our members all over Canada.
