MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
Hello Fabulous Females
Your executive is working hard to get the new Canadian Military Women's Association started. There is a new logo in the works which I am showing you. While it is a very nice logo the general feeling is that it does not adequately represent our Navy sisters. The logo is being created free of charge by a young woman who is not familiar with the military and lives in Dublin, Ireland. I am working with her, using suggestions from you, to create a more comprehensive logo. Hopefully, there will be a final version for the October newsletter.
The focus at this time is to publicise the new Association and all of you can help us with this by letting local Legion branches and other appropriate organizations know about it.
Plans for the 1st C.M.W.A. reunion on June 5, 6, 7, 2026 at Caesar's Resort and Convention Center in Windsor, Ontario are moving forward. You will be kept informed of all progress in the newsletter in the upcoming months.
I wish all of you a spectacular September. Take care and stay safe.
Cheers
Brenda Bailey
Chair
Welcome to all the new members of the Canadian Military Women’s Association.
I have received quite a few requests for membership, and lots of nice comments regarding the change to make it a tri-service group.
Those who were members of the RCAF group are happy to see the group continue with the addition of members who had served in the Army and the Navy, and that the reunions will continue.
There was a bit of confusion regarding my email address. It is lmackg18@gmail.com, but had been mistaken as imackg18@gmail.com.
Please use lower case “L”as the first letter.
Also, those who were registered with the old group have had their membership transferred to the new group, so there is no need to reapply.

Introducing your executive committee Co-Chair:
I grew up on a small farm in southern Ontario but with my heart set on adventure, it seemed that the Navy was the place to be. Two months after graduating from high school in 1964 I was on my way to HMCS Cornwallis.
I expect my time as a Wren may not differ much from the ladies I will meet in the Canadian Military Women’s Association. I served both in HMCS Stadacona and HMCS Shelburne with a few weeks training at the US navy base in Key West, Florida. However, it was in HMCS Cornwallis during basic training where I met my future husband. After serving for two years I had to decide whether to remain in the military or get married. I obviously made the correct decision as we just celebrated our 58th wedding anniversary with many of those years as a navy wife spent on military bases from British Columbia to Newfoundland to the high Arctic.
My experiences as a Wren and a navy wife provided me with many fond memories. I was fortunate enough to attend the ex-wren’s reunion in Winnipeg in 2006 and now, 20 years later, look forward to meeting some again in 2026 as well as those from the other branches of the military.
You can click on the names at the end of this newsletter to write an email to members of the executive committee.

We invite former military women and those presently serving to join us. For those unable to bring a dish we suggest a donation which will go to the Legion Poppy Fund.
The fun part of the afternoon are the draws of "regifts". If you wish to participate, bring an item you no longer have use for and would like to pass on. It should be wrapped or gift bagged.
